KFS Series Features

All KFS gear tool sharpening machines feature the following:

  • Compact Fanuc CNC panel with touch-screen color display that swivels flat into the body of the machine safely out of the way when not in use
  • Easy-to-use software with conversational programming
  • High-speed direct drive grinding spindle
  • Pre-loaded linear guide ways
  • AC servo motors with pre-loaded ball screws for linear axes
  • Sharpen to AGMA “AAA” quality
  • Suitable for either high-speed steel or carbide tools
  • Designed for using vitrified, CBN or diamond abrasive (resin-bonded or plated)
  • High-volume coolant flow for wet grinding
  • Integrated centrifuge filtration system for reduced footprint and shop floor cleanliness
  • Clarity of the filtration system is rated at 2 to 5 microns
  • Integrated crane on KFS250S and KFS250SS for easy loading and unloading of larger hobs

Model KFS100 Series

  • Re-designed Koepfer KFS100.5 series offers a vertical high-speed direct drive grinding spindle with 12,000 RPM
    Straight-gash hobs can be efficiently sharpened with optional capability for helical-gash hobs (designated KFS100S)
  • Optional spur and and helical shaper cutter sharpening (designated KFS100SS)
  • Coolant filtration system has been integrated into the machine bed to provide a 40% smaller footprint
  • Fanuc CNC control of all four axes eliminates manual setup and maximizes accuracy and repeatability with an operator-friendly prompting program as well as CNC storage of cutter data
  • Sharpens hobs to AGMA (American Gear Manufacturers Association) class “AAA” quality
  • Pneumatic tailstock provides positive clamping pressure while grinding
  • Designed for hobs up to 4″ in diameter, 8″ of face with a maximum 5 DP
  • Capable of grinding high-speed steel (HSS) and carbide tools using CBN or diamond abrasive
